A Hero to Come Home To

Ta-da! The first book in the Tuesday Night Margarita Club/Tallgrass series is done!

Well, at least for me. The cover's still being finalized, and the production and sales people still have their stuff to do, but as of 10:20 last night, I've finished the page proofs and won't see the book again until it's been printed and bound and my author copies have arrived.

It was both sad and sweet reading the book. I still love the story, so that's good. But saying goodbye to Carly and Dane was kind of sad. Oh, they'll show up in the following books -- they get married in Book 3 -- but not as major characters. Their story is told. Therese and Keegan's story is already told, too, and Jessy and Dalton's is in the works. In fact, when I'm not writing, I'm working out story ideas for Lucy, Marti, Fia and Ilena. And when those are done, there's Bennie, Leah, Noah, Dillon and LoLo, and I'm sure more characters will pop up with their own romances.

That's one of many good things about a series: there's always someone else with a tale so you're never at a loss for ideas.

  1. Marilyn--
I'm so excited to finally get to be involved with these stories--all of them.
    Congrats!

    1. Thank you! The changes are on their way back to New York. It was the first hard-copy of anything I've done in over a year. I liked working on paper again (though I do apologize to my editor that Shadow drooled on some of the pages). Don't like paying those express delivery fees, though, lol.

  2. It must be a bittersweet experience.

Just wanted to say, one of my favorite Hallmark Channel Holiday Movies was on last night. It's the third year I've watched it, but this is the first time I noticed it's based on one of your books! Now I'm going to hunt up the book, Season For Miracles. I love the cast.

    1. Aw, Christy, so did I! I'm glad you like it . . .though I like to think the book is better. :) We got to go to the premiere in L.A. and met Patty Duke, Carla Gugino, Mae Whitman, and several other cast members -- they were all so friendly and nice! -- plus we met all the top guys at Hallmark Hall of Fame and were treated like royalty. It was a wonderful experience.

  3. What a treat to go to the premiere!

I think the book is usually better because you can get so much closer to the characters. I searched the book and I found used copies from $8.75 in New Zealand all the way up to $999.00! With the median price around $65. The last time I had that kind of sticker shock was when when I searched a "Walter Mitty" VHS staring Danny Kaye and it was around $150 used. Guess I'll be visiting the library. It has since been re-released as a DVD and the price has come down.

    1. Wow, what a hoot on the prices.

The premiere was really fun. My oldest friend and her husband met us there. Hallmark put us up a hotel in Beverly Hills, we shopped on Rodeo Drive, attended a reception before the screening, and I got introduced to the audience before it started. It was a great time!!
